Safety in Numbers - Employee SOS System Uses Speed Dial Keys on Mobile Phone

AV Technology adopts Lone Worker Protection System from MobileSOS
March 01, 2007 - Press Dispensary - AV Technology’s ongoing commitment to ensuring the health and safety of its employees is being further endorsed by the adoption of a novel mobile phone-based protection and communication system for its field engineers. Provided by MobileSOS (http://www.mobilesos.co.uk), the service operates across all mobile networks and on all GSM phones. The system is initiated via designated speed dial keys on the mobile phone.
MobileSOS chief technical officer, Gill Oosthuizen, explains: "A single key press sends a voice, text and email message to the user's five pre-programmed contacts, together with their location. One key is for a panic call, another sends an ‘I’m ok’ call when the user wants to check in. Subscribers can also set a timer that will issue an alert if it’s not cancelled."
AVT’s engineers regularly work alone, sometimes in remote locations, and as their technical director, Neil Parkinson, concludes: "We were looking for a way of providing reassurance to our engineers that came in a practical and affordable system. MobileSOS’s use of the mobile phone – which all our employees carry - and the ability to configure the system according to personal preferences were key factors in our decision to go forward with them as our favoured Lone Worker Protection System supplier."

About MobileSOS Limited
MobileSOS provides a personal security service that can be accessed via any mobile phone to get an urgent message to an individual's trusted network of colleagues, family and friends. By using a pre-selected MobileSOS speed-dial number, the user's pre-recorded message and location is sent out via voice, text and email, so that one or more nominated contacts can be made aware of the emergency situation. An optional timer function will even allow users to send a silent alert to nominated contacts if the alarm is not cancelled before the timer runs out.
In addition to its use as a tool for emergencies, MobileSOS can also be used to let colleagues, family and friends know that the user is safe, or that the user has arrived at a particular location, again with just one MobileSOS speed dial number.
