Virtual Spectator Launches DataDVE for Affordable TV Production
July 16, 2007 - Press Dispensary - Virtual Spectator is launching DataDVE (http://www.virtualspectator.com.au/datadveweb) - the commercial release of a television production tool used to produce Channel 9 Australia’s cricket graphics - aimed at networks and independent production houses who want to do a professional job without breaking the bank.
Easy to use with a minimal learning curve, DataDVE allows producers to create and ‘put to air’ all the graphic and text elements required for most broadcast programming. With automated programming in mind, the system imports graphical, video and animation assets from the producer’s existing tools and uses them in a layered environment mixed with text, data, and animated effects generated by the software.
DataDVE features an integrated character generator, multiple live video windows, animated news tickers, XML data integrator and 32-bit video overlay system. Highly affordable at just £34,000, the sysytem is portable, HD and SD compatible, NTSC and PAL compatible and has many of the features of systems costing ten times more. It also supports timeline content sequencing for automated broadcasting.
Peter Lamb of Virtual Spectator comments: “DataDVE stands apart from its rivals thanks to its comprehensive range of features – all provided at low cost. It is one of the few products to offer timeline content sequencing, live multiple SDI inputs, character generation and news tickers in one package.”
DataDVE is the same technology used by Virtual Spectator to produce Channel 9 Australia's cricket graphics during last year's Ashes series.
Peter Lamb says: “After developing DataDVE for use on Channel 9's cricket coverage, it became obvious that the entire broadcasting world could benefit from this set of tools wrapped up in a user interface that can be mastered in under a day. DataDVE represents a giant leap forward in ease of use for broadcast tools.”
