Webstream Software Hands Small Businesses Control of their Websites

2007-08-06

August 06, 2007, Press Dispensary. London based web design and programming company, Webstream (http://www.webstream.ltd.uk), is launching an affordable content management system which will help the owners of small and medium-sized businesses to take full control of their websites.

The Webstream V1.0 system has been under development for 28 months, and will enable webmasters to add, edit and delete online content using a page editor similar to Microsoft Word.

Ben Clark, Webstream sales director, says: “Systems of this kind have previously been so expensive that only the larger companies could afford them. We are aiming Webstream V1.0 at smaller shops and businesses and, by making our prices the cheapest, we will help our clients compete on a more level playing field with the big boys.

“The beauty of Webstream V1.0 is that it doesn’t require a detailed understanding of the technology involved – you can add products to your website while sipping cocktails on the beach in Spain, if you like."

The new software can be tailor made around a client’s specific requirements, and is aimed at companies who would like to achieve greater control over the day-to-day running of their websites, and want a website that can be managed without expensive ongoing web design costs.

“Webstream V1.0 combines many different features under one easy-to-use online control panel which can be accessed through a secure log-in screen from anywhere in the world,” says Mr Clark.

“Most companies that offer content management systems have bought them in, and are therefore limited in what they are able to offer, and in their ability to make changes. Because we have written our software from scratch we can incorporate any design into Webstream V1.0, and add any other features the client requires.”

Users of Webstream V1.0 can add, edit and delete categories and products in their online shop. Content can be quickly edited regardless of technical ability, and permissions can be granted to individuals so that they can add, edit or remove content according to their permission level.

Email can be checked through the system’s webmail tool, and users can also create email campaigns, upload email lists, or write newsletters.

Website marketing tools can be used to track the most popular key phrases used in search engines, and to find out how, and when, the search engines last visited the user’s site, and what they thought of it. Users can find out how many pages of their site are included in the search engines, and how many other websites link to the user’s site.

Webstream has also built in a website statistic tool which helps users gain valuable information about visitors to their site. They can find out whether the visitor came from a website or a search engine; the day and time of their visit; their country of origin; what pages they visited; and even information about the computer they used.

Owners can also use the simple payment set-up section to integrate their shopping cart with companies such as Worldpay, Paypal, Barclays and HSBC.

The website will be automatically updated every time the “save” button is pressed, and is also optimised to get the most out of search engines.
