Luxury Vacation Network IVHE Creates Charity Partnership with Mercy Corps
March 11, 2008 - Press Dispensary - Luxury vacation network, International Vacation Home Exchange ( http://www.ivhe.com ), has formed a partnership with Mercy Corps ( http://www.mercycorps.com ), the international relief and development charity. As a result of the alliance, IVHE will donate 5% of every joining fee received to this valuable charity.
IVHE offers a choice of luxury staffed villas, ski lodges, yachts and boutique hotels, in over 50 different countries. The online vacation network allows members to trade vacation time for credits, eliminating problems found in conventional home exchanges and enabling members to maximise the value of their assets. Through the website members can conveniently manage their account, update and promote their property, and search for new vacation locations.
Suzie Magnus, MD, IVHE says: "The charity partnership with Mercy Corps permits IVHE to provide its members with top quality accommodation while remaining socially conscious.”
Mervyn Lee, executive director, Mercy Corps, comments: "The money raised through regular donations from IVHE will help Mercy Corps to fund imaginative ways of implementing disaster relief, working with communities in some of the neediest countries in the world, and putting people back on their feet and in charge of their own lives.”
Mercy Corps helps more than 14.4 million people each year in over 35 countries recover from disasters, build stronger communities and help to find answers to ongoing poverty. Mercy Corps is constantly in the forefront of responses to global disasters such as the Indian Ocean tsunami, conflict in the Middle East, Hurricane Katrina, ethnic conflict in the Balkans and famine and drought in Africa.
Mercy Corps' policy of engaging with local communities has proved a winning formula for achieving results. In the aftermath of the recent devastating 7.9 magnitude earthquake that hit coastal Peru mid August last year, Mercy Corps have been working with local partners to provide emergency shelter for occupants of two villages near the epicentre of the earthquake whose homes were destroyed. This disaster left more than 100,000 people homeless.
