Environmental Accreditation for Responsible Packaging


Paragon Print and Packaging 'responsible packaging' policy recognised by certification

May 21, 2008 - Press Dispensary - Paragon Print and Packaging (http://www.paragonprintandpackaging.com), the UK’s largest manufacturer of fresh and chilled food packaging, has been accredited with three responsible packaging certifications; ISO 14OO1:2004 environmental management certification, FSC chain of custody and PEFC chain of custody certification for sustainable sourcing of paper and board products for all of its seven UK manufacturing sites.

The group recently announced the opening of its recycling facility in Spalding which handles self adhesive label waste for any UK business.

Paragon Print and Packaging annual turnover exceeds £117m in labels, sleeves and film products in the fresh and chilled food sector. The group has seven manufacturing sites in the UK, and is an approved packaging supplier to all major retailers. The current recycling centre in Spalding diverts 70% of manufacturing waste from landfill with a projected target of 100% for 2012.

ISO 14000 is a series of international standards on environmental management. It provides a framework for the development of an environmental management system and the supporting audit programme.

FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) promotes responsible forestry and implements a system that traces products back to their forest of origin.

PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) certifies timber and paper products to ensure they derive from responsibly managed forests, aiming to achieve compatibility between international forest certification schemes.
