Inbox-d Connects Offline Ads to The Web for Consumers
September 11, 2008 - Press Dispensary - Keito Systems, a Middlesex-based company, is launching Inbox-d ( http://www.inbox-d.com ) - a web-based system that helps consumers follow up printed adverts from everyday life, such as newspaper offers and leaflet promotions - online, using SMS.
The service features online classified and directory listings, which match clients’ offline marketing material. An SMS code can be assigned to any listing, so the consumer can follow it up for more information quickly and easily, while the marketer can raise recall of their print promotions without being hit in the wallet during the ‘credit crunch’.
Thanks to Inbox-d, marketers can include the assigned SMS code on all their offline print material, such as brochures and flyers. When a consumer texts the SMS code to Inbox-d, the site simply emails the online listing to their mailbox, giving the consumer the convenience to follow up the advert when they next log on to the internet.
Inbox-d offers free registration, texting, browsing and listing creation, while SMS codes cost £45/year, with the ability to recycle the code back into the Inbox-d marketplace if it's no longer required.
Jasbinder Gill, director of Keito Systems, says: “As consumers, we now do everything online – from planning weddings and holidays to our weekly grocery shop. At the same time, we encounter a lot of printed advertising that we never follow up because we can’t remember the details when we next access the internet. Inbox-d addresses this issue using existing technologies. The SMS codes cost a fraction of those normally found in the marketplace, making it a must-have service for everyone.”
He adds: “We’re providing an affordable way for businesses and individuals to add an additional sales and marketing channel to their existing activities, and to make it easy for consumers to record and follow up print adverts ‘on the spot’ using their mobile phones.”
Inbox-d members can log on to the website, view their ‘favourite’ items, and will soon be able to use web 2.0 based services for a true multi-channel experience.
The Inbox-d service is ideal for merchants who wish to combine their offline advertising with their internet presence; any individual or business that advertises in print – from SMEs carrying out leaflet promotions to prudent holiday home owners; and printers and publishers who can assign SMS codes and listings to their advertisers, increasing their exposure online.
Furthermore, individuals can use Inbox-d to link their offline contact details with their Facebook or LinkedIn presence. They simply create a Personal Listing, which includes a link to their online profile pages. The assigned SMS code can then be printed on business cards and headed letter paper, so new contacts can easily access the promised online profiles without wasting time trawling.
Mr Gill concludes: “There has been much industry talk on how large organisations are using technology to provide a multi-channel experience for consumers. We want Inbox-d to be the multi-channel answer for SMEs, providing self service for consumers and marketers and making the most of print promotion, which is a dying market these days.”
