New Listings Site Sorts Best UK Businesses from the Rest!

2008-10-22

Theuksbest.co.uk offers firms free listing before December 1, 2008

October 22, 2008 - Press Dispensary - A new listings website will help beleaguered Brits fed up with shoddy work, sloppy service and inflated prices find the best businesses in town, based on feedback from their own customers. The UK’s Best, a directory driven by customer reviews rather than advertising spend or the alphabet, will make it easier for users to find a business they can trust, whether searching for a dependable dog-walker, expert electrician or first-rate financial advisor.

Unlike traditional paper-based directories and more recent online versions, the site doesn’t catalogue companies alphabetically or show sponsored listings first. Instead, it will create ‘league tables’ by town or industry, aiming to become the biggest and best source of advice and reviews of companies across the country.

The UK’s Best will also help bridge the gap for small firms fed up with relying on flyers and word-of-mouth but which can’t afford to advertise in directories built for big business. Users can create a professional listing quickly and easily using an online form, and to mark its launch the site is offering firms who sign up before December 1, 2008 a free listing. When the site does become a paid service, all users will pay the same cost-effective one-off fee for a permanent place in the directory.

The site is calling on consumers to register and write an honest review of any supplier or service they have used, with feedback averaged to determine where the business appears in the listing - rewarding those with the most recommendations. Users can then make an informed decision about the best company for the job - based on completely impartial information.

“Finding a reputable plumber, printer or property agent is painful enough, without having to plough through the Yellow Pages knowing that they give the best advertising spots to businesses with the biggest budgets,” says site founder John Ulotti.

Businesses registering on the site can include a description of their services, links to their website, contact details and a Google generated map to allow customers to get directions from their home. Customers can use the site as a local directory and browse by county, town and city, or investigate companies further afield by searching via industry categories.

Ulotti concludes: "Small businesses often offer the best pricing, customer service and product satisfaction, but advertising budgets leave them overshadowed by their larger competitors. The UK’s Best will provide a level playing field for local companies to compete with the ‘big boys’, where the only currency that counts is having more contented customers."
