Mypettrade.co.uk Launches Creature Comforts into Cyberspace

October 29, 2008 - Press Dispensary - A techno-savvy sixteen-year-old with a passion for pets has launched a website catering for the owners of all creatures great and small across the country. Teenage entrepreneur Richard Burles, from Tickenham near Bristol, has designed and financed My Pet Trade (http://www.mypettrade.co.uk ) to provide a full range of features to Brits besotted with their pets.

Free services on the site include a pet insurance comparison page, vouchers off top branded products, and an animal encyclopaedia with comprehensive information about the nation's furry, feathered and finned best friends.

For people still searching for the perfect pet, the site also features a directory of breeders looking to sell their latest litter, and details of animals that need re-homing from pet rescue centres across the UK. Users can search by breed and location and, if they can't find the dog, cat, hamster or any other pet they're looking for, they can post a wanted ad to receive an automatic email alert when a pet is placed that matches their request.

Pets are big business. According to the RSPCA, nine million people own cats in Britain and more than six million own dogs, and that fabulous feline or capering canine can bite deep into its owner's wallet. My Pet Trade members get a helping hand towards the cost of food, grooming and presents for their pets with regular money off vouchers available on the site.

With unexpected vet bills often running into the thousands, insurance is an essential part of pet ownership - but the range of policies available can be baffling. And most comparison sites give premium position to the insurer with the biggest advertising budget. My Pet Trade provides an impartial policy overview of all the main insurers, and a ratings system driven by customer reviews, so that owners can make an informed decision about the best cover for their pet.

My Pet Trade also offers an alternative to generic social networking sites like Facebook and MySpace for people who only want to post about their pets. A range of forums on the site cover topics including pet health, finding a good breeder and selling animals online, and there are individual chat rooms about pets of all shapes and sizes.

Richard Burles says: "My Pet Trade aims to bring all the services an animal lover needs under one virtual roof. Whether you're looking for a professional pet sitting service, the best deal on insurance or you want to give an abandoned dog in your town a new home, you can find everything you need on the site. Or, if your new puppy's driving you barking mad, our social 'Petwork' can connect you to someone who understands."

Notes for editors
My Pet Trade is the brainchild of sixteen-year-old Richard Burles from Tickenham in Somerset. Brought up in the industry, he saw a gap in the market for an website which would offer across-the-board services for people with pets, those looking for a pet, breeders and businesses offering pet products.

After two years of planning and saving, Richard employed web development company, 18aproductions.co.uk, to build the site, and worked with them on the design, logo and layout.

Richard's father Peter Burles is the company director for legal purposes.
