Use Your Loaf - Sign Up For Safe Text Messaging

December 23, 2008 - Press Dispensary - Ever wanted to make anonymous contact with a sexy stranger you met in a bar? Or wondered how to protect your privacy when using classified ads and social networking sites? Now, UK mobile users can send and receive text messages without revealing their phone number by registering for a ‘Loaf’ name at www.loaf.co.uk

Registering for a Loaf account is free and names are allocated on a first come, first served basis. ‘Loafers’ can then use their name whenever they want to give people a way of contacting them, without having to disclose their personal mobile number.

A user registered as ‘Joe-Bloggs’, for example, gives this name to anybody they want to receive texts from. The person sending the SMS then simply starts their text with the Loaf name, followed by their message, before sending it to the Loaf ‘shortcode’ number 88845. The message passes through the Loaf network and is sent to the mobile of the member with the alias ‘Joe-Bloggs’.

Dean Adams, managing director of Net Preference Group, explains: “When you first start dating somebody, you may not be comfortable swapping mobile numbers but still want a way of keeping in touch. And how many of us feel nervous when we put our cell number on a classified ad in the local paper or on eBay that it could get into the wrong hands. Now, to protect your privacy, just tell people to ‘use your Loaf’!”

Businesses are also set to benefit by registering for a Loaf name. By using the name when advertising, potential customers don’t have to remember a long telephone number and, in the event of the company changing its mobile number, it won’t have to reprint business cards and marketing materials.

There are no monthly subscriptions or charges for Loaf names or for receiving messages. Sending a message to a Loafer costs just 25 pence. And, to protect against abuse, users can block anybody sending unwanted texts.

Dean Adams adds: “We believe Loaf is the first service of its kind in the UK. Whether you want to swap SMS messages with a new admirer, post contact details on your Facebook page or use Loaf to field your business calls, our advanced mobile technology is set to transform the way people use texts.”

Loaf is available nationally and across all the major networks. Full instructions for registration and sending and receiving messages are provided on the Loaf website - www.loaf.co.uk
