Elston and Hopkin On Cue to Launch Stylish Italian Snooker Table Designs

November 14, 2006 - Press Dispensary - Elston and Hopkin ( http://www.elstonandhopkin.co.uk ), the North Lincolnshire-based cue sport table specialist, is launching an exclusive range of Italian-made snooker and American pool table designs for the first time in the UK, Ireland and Channel Islands.

The company has secured the exclusive rights to distribute tables from Ursus Biliardi, manufacturers with over 60 years' experience in custom-making high-end models for snooker and American pool.

The range includes identical copies of 19th century designs that are favourites with interior designers all over Europe. The tables are designed to be the stylish centrepiece of the room, but are also manufactured to the exacting specifications of functional snooker and pool tables.

Specialist cabinetmakers in Tuscany guarantee absolute stability and consistent long-term playability by building the supporting frame from weathered timber, seasoned over decades. The surface is constructed from three layers of slate, each 5cm in width, meticulously positioned directly on to the supporting frame using calibrating machinery accurate to a thousandth of a centimetre. 'Gorina' fabric of the highest quality finishes the design in a choice of colours and is hand-moulded to the slate and sides to ensure perfect fit and durability.

The range of tables available from Elston and Hopkin includes the Imperiale, which features ornate handcrafted inlays in Rosewood and Maple. The Centenario is a faithful reproduction of an early 19th century model available in rare and precious woods such as walnut, cherry, olive and amazaque. Other models include the Giubileo, with its elegant rounded legs, and the versatile Novecento, which can be embellished with ornate carvings or left clean and uncluttered as per the customer’s specifications.
