Britain’s Baby Boomers Get their Own Website - Wanobe.com

September 06, 2007 - Press Dispensary - A MySpace-type website called Wanobe.com (http://www.wanobe.com) is launching to cater exclusively for the needs of Britain’s baby boomers – those aged 50 and over – who have money to spend and are not interested in growing old gracefully.

Wanobe.com caters for a 50-plus audience whose interests range from Viagra to plastic surgery to Vespas by way of the occasional Porsche.
The website will enable visitors to find and comment on restaurants, airlines and travel, hotels, films and theatre, as well as match-make and date, store personal information on secure online servers, and network online. Visitors will also be able to view information on relevant health and technology issues.

Wanobe.com has been created by David Noble, a 60-year old journalist, broadcaster and communications consultant, to fill a gap in the marketplace for those of middle age and beyond who hold 85% of the UK’s personal wealth.

“Men and women over 50 are major consumers”, says Noble.
“Their children have moved out, their mortgages are paid off and a substantial number have the time and money to get the most out of life.

“And one 55-year-old in two goes online on a daily basis – hence Wanobe.com."

In line with its content, the website delivers a visually attractive, easy-to-use and practical service focused on the specific interests of its audience.
Geared to generate loyalty, Wanobe.com offers evolving content and, importantly, a zestful, dynamic design that avoids “mature” stereotyping.

Wanobe.com has been under development since early 2007. The site is wholly owned by Wanobe Limited. Development of the website has initially been funded by the founders and four independent angel investors, who invested 60,000 euro in total.
