Miss TG Brighton is Back Bigger and Better for its Fourth Annual Event

At Paganini Ballroom, Old Ship Hotel, Brighton, Tuesday 2 October, 2007

September 18, 2007 - Press Dispensary - Miss TG Brighton (http://www.misstg.co.uk), an annual beauty pageant and the largest transgender event on the south coast’s calendar, is taking place on Tuesday 2 October, 2007, at the Paganini Ballroom, Old Ship Hotel, Brighton. Themed this year as ‘James Bond 007 Casino Royale and a Licence to Thrill’, the event will raise thousands of pounds for local charities. Guest of honour is the Mayor of Brighton, Councillor Carol Theobald – a former winner of the ‘mainstream’ (female) Miss Brighton.

Now in its fourth year, Miss TG Brighton becomes larger each time. Organised by Lacies, the south’s only transgendered store - based on Portland Road, Hove - and sponsored by local firms including the Mortgage Advisory Service of Shoreham and many others, the event exists to bring together the transgendered community and raise funds for deserving causes. These include the Martlets Hospice which offers respite care for people suffering from cancer and other serious illnesses; the Sussex Beacon, which runs a hospice to help those with HIV related illnesses; and the Clare Project, which supports those seeking advice on gender identity issues.

Sue Sheppard, organiser of Miss TG Brighton and proprietor of Lacies, comments: “This year’s theme evokes a classic British glamour icon. It is fitting, therefore, that our chosen venue is the glamorous Paganini Ballroom. We anticipate a truly stylish soiree as people dress up to the nines in the spirit of 1950’s Bond. The dress code encompasses diamonds, eveningwear and tuxedos for men, which makes for a stunning display.”

As well as the main Miss TG Brighton competition, a popular category in the pageant is Miss Mature Brighton, which is open to entrants aged 45 plus.

Miss TG Brighton takes place on Tuesday 2 October, 7pm ‘til late at the Paganini Ballroom, Old Ship Hotel, Kings Road, Brighton. Tickets cost £12 in advance from: Sussex Beacon, St James Street; any Martlets charity shop; Lacies, 164 Portland Road, Hove, or 127 Dover Road, Folkestone; and online at www.misstg.co.uk
