Ulrika May Unleashes the Charm of Vintage Cushions in her Online Store

Ulrika’s eye for elaborate textiles has led her to create cushions that include everything from striking, geometric prints to delicate floral patterns; from plaid to Hermes-look checks; and gorgeous paisley designs. Also included is an eye-catching collection of vintage souvenir scarf cushions, including ‘Kitsch Italy’ and Bermuda product lines.

In her creations, Ulrika respects the beauty of the vintage scarves, which originate from the 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s and are sourced from antique fairs and flea markets or collected during travel. Some pieces of fabric may show small signs of wear but these add to the character of the cushion. As 50% of each cushion is made from re-used material, they will appeal to eco-conscious shoppers. All the cushions are made in London.

Ulrika May Ltd is run by German born designer, Ulrika Woiwode, of North West London. Ulrika spent several years working at Hugo Boss, following her graduation in Business Studies. She then began her creative quest at the Inchbald School in London, studying Architectural Interior Design. This was followed by immediate success as first prize winner of the Veedon Fleece carpet design competition, inspiring her to complete a textile design course at the Central Saint Martins College.

With a desire to work for herself and driven by her creative energy, Ulrika launched Ulrika May Ltd, a web-based company, in July 2007.
