Coaching Service Enables BME Teachers to Achieve New Career Heights May 07, 2008 - Press Dispensary - Coaching and leadership development company Integrity Coaching (http://www.integritycoaching.co.uk) is launching a range of coaching services specifically for black and minority ethnic [BME] teachers and school leaders. The services are the first of their kind to be offered to BME teachers and have been designed specifically to help local authorities increase the number of BME teachers and head teachers in their schools.
The launch of these new services is timely as the government and the National College for School Leadership (NCSL) predict there will be a shortage of head teachers between 2009 and 2011, when many existing heads reach retirement age. In addition to this, the NCSL is pressing LAs to find ways of increasing their intake of BME teachers and ultimately encouraging them to work towards headships in the future.
Services offered by Integrity Coaching support BME teachers at every stage of their careers and provide the vital personal support and encouragement that BME teachers need to help them progress professionally. Integrity Coaching also provides leadership development training, one-to-one coaching for senior LA personnel and head teachers, and race equality impact assessments. All services are delivered by highly skilled and qualified trainers and coaches who understand the challenges of personal and professional development, particularly within the BME context.
Director Viv Grant says: "The under representation of BME people in middle and senior leadership roles contributes to the potential shortage of school heads and provides few role models for the next generation. Integrity Coaching is passionate about helping to re-dress the balance and provides support and encouragement to vastly under represented groups. We want coaching for BME teachers to be viewed in much the same way as it is in the business world, as a tool for helping individuals get to the top of their profession.”
