Credit For Obscure Jules Verne Movie
June 05, 2008 - Press Dispensary - Three young London film-makers are hoping to make cinema history defying the Hollywood system - by acquiring their feature film funding from the British public. The concept is simple: to raise the money by selling the film’s end credits at Buyacredit.com .
Adrian Bliss, Benjamin Robbins and Toby Stubbs are in pre-production on a relatively unknown novel by the celebrated French science fiction writer Jules Verne, titled ‘Clovis Dardentor’. Last published in English more than century ago, the book is a compelling tale of love, adventure and worldly greed.
Over the years, the novel has been overshadowed by Verne’s dominating masterpieces such as Journey to the Centre of the Earth and Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, but the trio declares it to be a hidden gem. Adrian says “This is a cinematic tale worth telling. Not only is it a love story packed with adventure, but it’s expressed with a wonderful sense of burlesque humour.”
However, earlier this year, the trio’s ideas for the film stopped short at the closed gates of monopolistic Hollywood. So at this point, the entrepreneurial trio conceived the buyacredit programme! They will raise the necessary finance by selling the film’s end credits through buyacredit.com. The process of online payment is quick and simple, and each credit costs just £1.
The scale of the film will depend on how many people buy credits, meaning that the scope is infinite. Benjamin adds: “The three of us are wholly committed to the project and will see it through, irrespective of the amount we raise. But the more that comes in, the better it will be."
Buyacredit.com serves as the base for the project. It is not only the gateway for purchasing, but a source of information and a news portal.

Notes for editors
www.buyacredit.com was set up on May 5th by Adrian Bliss, Ben Robbins and Toby Stubbs as a means of funding their current feature film project. Previously they ran a small production company that made private videos and promotional films for clients. It is with the money made through these ventures that they were able to fund the 'buyacredit' project.
