DFDS Seaways Continues to Provide Ferry Service for Scottish Travellers

October 07, 2008 - Press Dispensary - DFDS Seaways provides an alternative for Scottish travellers after the closure of the super fast ferry service from Rosyth to Zeebrugge this September. DFDS Seaways gives Scottish travellers a quick and easy alternative to the super fast service with daily sailing from Newcastle and Holland, allowing passengers with easy access to continental Europe.

The DFDS Seaways port is situated just outside Newcastle city centre, a short distance from the A1 motorway. This saves travellers from Scotland from driving to Hull or the South coast, conserving both journey time and fuel costs in the process.

Pete Akerman, head of marketing, DFDS, says: “DFDS Seaways ferries offers live entertainment, bars, restaurants, shops, cinema and a kids club in the school holidays. Passengers should arrive refreshed and ready to enjoy their holidays in Holland, whilst journeying through Europe is also a viable option, with Germany, France and Belgium all within easy reach.”

DFDS Seaways is also making it even easier for Scottish travellers to take advantage of its Newcastle to Amsterdam mini cruise breaks by organising four coach pick up dates in November and December, creating seamless short break weekends from Scotland to Amsterdam. Travelling outward bound on either the 7th or 21st November 2008 or the 5th or 12th December 2008, pick up points are: Perth Railway Station; Bruce Street, Dunfermline; Waterloo Place, Edinburgh and Berwick upon Tweed Railway Station.

From these locations the coaches will journey onto Newcastle and join the cruise ferry over to Amsterdam. Customers will be able to enjoy the majority of the day in Amsterdam, returning on the 9th and 23rd November or 7th and 14th December 2008. Meal inclusive packages are also available, including an all-you-can-eat dinner buffet and hot buffet breakfast on both crossings.

Prices for ferry crossings start from only £48 per person based on a car and four passengers travelling one way. Prices for the coach service start from £79 per person and include coach transfers, two nights on board ship in a two-berth inside cabin.
