CELEBRATIONS IN VAGUEVILLE:
4-5 September, near Lewes, East Sussex
August 11, 2004 - Press Dispensary - Lost Vagueness (www.lostvagueness.com), the original instigator of burlesque glitz-sleaze and purveyor of one of the most eccentric and thriving fields at Glastonbury 2004, has gained a license for its spectacular summer festival, which takes place from 2pm Saturday 4 to 2pm Sunday 5 September on a farm in a glorious setting near Lewes, East Sussex.
The granting of the license goes against recent expectations, as a Lost Vagueness festival at the same location was turned down last year. The 24 hour event has now met with local approval and support.
Entertainment includes: The Ballroom, with champagne, cocktails, dancehall, and splendid live acts; The Casino, with its decadent blend of cabaret and fantasy realities; The Changing Room, where the ever-glamorous Mishka and her stylists help guests become glamorised for night-time; and 50’s-styled pursuits with The Tea-Room, The 50’s Diner and The Laundrettas’ Pamper Parlor - featuring rock n’ roll, cocktails, gangster and B-movies, a pool party, and more.
There’s also The Outdoor Stage, with new bands, DJ’s, and acts for guests to appraise while they sit in the sun sippin’ cocktails in the pool, freaky sideshows, an Organic BBQ, The Can-Can Girls, a Portrait Studio run by renowned photographers, a bonfire, burlesque cabaret, and varied exhibitions of skill and intrepidity
Deborah Berke of Lost Vagueness, comments: “We’d like to thank the dedicated Vagrants who worked hard to communicate what we are about and helped us gain the license. We’d also like to thank the local community and Lewes Licensing Authority for deciding in our favour so, this year, the show will go on.”
Tickets for the event cost £33 plus booking fee (£27 for Lost Vagueness members) and are available from Access all Areas, Camden (020 7267 8320), Black Market Records, Soho (020 7437 0478), The Dome Box Office, Brighton (01273-709-709) and www.lostvagueness.com.
Lost Vagueness will subsequently be taking its unequalled blend of entertainment to the Thames Festival (www.thamesfestival.org) on Sat 18 and Sun 19 September (10am-10pm). LV will have a Victorian style tea tent, and will be dressing the main stage and showing a small part of its line up there.

Notes for editors
Lost Vagueness, in its guise as a Casino, started in 1998, after
originating from an illicit travellers' bar that appeared on the outskirts of Glastonbury Festival. The original irony of travellers in top hats is now overshadowed by the sheer quality of the show; however the grass-roots humour remains the same to this day. Lost Vagueness now involves a 900 strong team of performers and crew and is funded by the Arts Council of England.
