Battersea Contemporary Arts Fair is Back for Spring 06 at Battersea Arts Centre, London, 12-14 May
March 03, 2006 - Press Dispensary - Battersea Contemporary Art Fair (BCAF) ( http://www.bcaf.info ), one of the largest and most popular independent artists? exhibitions in the UK, returns for its spring 2006 fixture at Battersea Arts Centre, London, on 12-14 May.
Ideal for those with a penchant for photography, print-making, sculpture and glass work, the twice-yearly fair showcases the work of 150 established and up-and-coming artists. This year, a high percentage of new artists are exhibiting at BCAF ? around 65% of the stands will feature talent new to the show.
BCAF is the largest event of its kind in the UK where artists sell their work directly to the public, commission free. Buyers can mingle with the artists and obtain original works - costing from 40 GBP to 4,000 GBP - without a gallery or agent taking a cut. To date, around 3,000-3,500 people have visited each show and BCAF has built a loyal audience.
Maria Scaman, exhibition director, comments: 'Art shows come and go but BCAF has an impressive track record of longevity and popularity. The sheer quality of the exhibitors and the enthusiasm they bring to the event say it all. Our reputation precedes and we?ve attracted a lot of new artists through word of mouth recommendation this year.'
BCAF is open from 6-9pm on Friday 12 May and 11am-5pm on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 May at the Battersea Arts Centre, Battersea Old Town Hall, Lavender Hill, London, SW11 5TN. Tickets are available on the door and entry costs 6 GBP / 4 GBP concessions (accompanied children under 16 gain free entry). Booking information for artists is at http://www.bcaf.info.
