Merlin Transformations Provides Holistic Breakthrough in Addiction Recovery With Home Treatment

October 16, 2006 - Press Dispensary - Specialist in addiction recovery, Merlin Transformations (http://www.addiction-recovery.co.uk), launches a programme which enables clients to be treated from the comfort of their own homes. Merlin already offers individually tailored holistic therapies for all forms of addictive behavioural problems, with consulting rooms in Essex, greater London and a network of recognised treatment providers across the UK.

Developed by husband and wife team, Alistair and Rebekah Rhind, who have a combined 45 years of professional and research experience in psychology, psychiatry and natural therapies, the programme deals with the layered and multi faceted issues faced by addicts during their recovery.

According to the Rhind’s research, environmental factors play a large part in recovery, with clients often reporting they feel ‘safer’ in their own surroundings than in the more sterile atmosphere of a hospital, clinic or consulting room. Home treatment increases the client’s ability to connect directly the therapy to their specific problems whilst within their own environment. In turn, this can assist clients to recognise and learn how to neutralise environmental triggers.

Alistair Rhind explains: “Standard medicalisation of addiction recovery can be counterproductive. Addiction makes people ill in every part of the human system – physical, mental, neurological and psychopharmacological. Addiction has a negative effect within a person’s thinking and beliefs, emotions, psychology and spirit. A ‘one size fits all’ approach, such as the Twelve Steps or Minnesota Model, doesn’t deal with the correct combination of these factors for each individual and is far less likely to succeed. Rather, the correct therapy should be applied to the areas of each individual’s problem which require it.”

Alistair adds: “Each individual’s need for help varies considerably. Yes, some will definitely require in-patient care, but many do not. A thorough assessment by an experienced specialist can mean the difference between spending £30,000 or a few hundred. The days of everyone needing 28 day treatment are over. We’ve worked hard to ‘perfect’ our technique over three decades and have been privileged to study and work with many thousands of clients and patients who have successfully put addictions behind them."

Individual appointments and group therapy are available, as are telephone therapy, online consultations and, if necessary, low cost in-patient care. Private drug and alcohol detox facilities are provided where required. As the programmes are individually tailored to maximise the benefits for each client/patient and there are a number of treatment options available, the fees are variable. However, Merlin Transformations guarantees that charges are less than those of the majority of rehabilitation centres. All treatment programmes and fees are discussed during each initial assessment, while initial telephone or email consultations are free.
