Press Dispensary - March 26, 2008 - Red Herring ( http://www.redherring.com ) today names Mobiya ( http://www.mobiya.com ) as a finalist for the Red Herring 100 Europe - an honour awarded to the top 100 private technology companies based in the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) region each year.
Red Herring editor-in-chief, Joel Dreyfuss, comments: “This year’s impressive list of companies demonstrates Europe’s growing role in the global technology sector. The exceptional accomplishments of European technology start-ups and entrepreneurs are a testament to the rapid advancements being made Europe.”
Martin Davis, co-founder and CEO of Mobiya, adds: “Mobiya’s mobile classified service is available to 70 million people in the UK and Belgium, only 18 months after start-up. Today, we are negotiating licensing agreements for Mobiya System 1 with publishers in eight other countries. Mobiya is a micro-multinational company with a global ambition driven by supportive customers.”
Red Herring’s lists of top private companies are an important part of the publication’s tradition of identifying new and innovative technology companies and entrepreneurs. Companies such as Google, eBay, and Skype were spotted early on by Red Herring editors and touted as leaders.
Red Herring’s editorial staff have rigorously evaluated several hundred private companies through a careful analysis of financial data and subjective criteria, including quality of management, execution of strategy, and dedication to research and development.
Red Herring will honour the Red Herring 100 Europe Finalist companies at its Red Herring Europe 2008 event. The event will take place on April 14-16, at the Westin Dragonara Resort, Malta. The intimate, three day event is themed ‘The Pursuit of Disruption’ and will explore how European firms are leading within many technology sectors, gaining the competitive advantage, and driving entrepreneurial success in ways that create business opportunities for challengers and incumbents alike.
