Press Dispensary - May 14, 2008 - A team from Prestige Nursing ( http://www.prestige-nursing.co.uk ), one of Surrey’s longest running healthcare recruitment agencies, is taking steps to help people who are living with cancer. Reigate residents Lisa Newlands, Janice Jones and Debbie Good are taking part in the Walk Wonders charity walk at Penshurst Place in Kent, on 18 May, 2008, to raise vital funds for Macmillan Cancer Support ( http://www.macmillan.org.uk )
The two and a half mile walk around the estate of Penshurst Place, one of England's oldest family homes, is one of '10 Walk Wonders' events being held across the UK during May 2008 in a drive to raise £1 million for Macmillan. The walks involve thousands of participants.
William Jancek, branch manager of Prestige Nursing in Reigate, says: “Cancer affects us all. One in three of us will get cancer, and over a million people in the UK have a cancer diagnosis now. Macmillan Cancer Support helps people deal with the day to day challenges of living with cancer, and we’re taking part in Walk Wonders to help raise £1 million to continue this essential work.”
Prestige Nursing has specialised in the supply of nursing and healthcare staff for nearly 40 years. It offers nurses, care and support workers across the UK flexible, interesting and well paid work placements for a wide range of clients including NHS Trusts, nursing and residential homes, learning disability units and private individuals.
As one of the few care agencies to be family owned and run, Prestige Nursing puts family values at the centre of everything it does. New and existing care staff are offered training and support to further their careers, and the company’s in-depth knowledge of health and domiciliary care, developed over several decades, enables it to offer clients the highest level of specialised support.
William adds: “Many of our staff care for people living with cancer in their homes, hospitals and day centres, and have seen first hand the difference Macmillan makes. We’ve already had tremendous support from our clients and carers, who have pledged £120.00, and there’s still time for local people to register for the walk or make a donation – just £20 could fund the Macmillan CancerLine for one hour and £144 could fund a Macmillan nurse for one day.”
