New Design Launch for UK Baby-Boomer Site Wanobe.Com
Press Dispensary - February 12, 2008 - Wanobe.com (http://www.wanobe.com), a Facebook-type website for Britain’s baby boomers – those aged 50 and over – has been given a makeover to create a simpler, more user-friendly interface.
A number of new community-building and entertainment features have been added to the Wanobe.com site making it even easier to stay in touch with family and friends, make new contacts, and play classic fun games such as Pacman.
David Noble, founder and MD, comments: “We’ve seen impressive growth since our launch just five months ago and we felt it was time to act on the feedback from our fast growing membership.”
He continues: “At Wanobe we do not believe that just because we have passed fifty we want to be told we may soon have to tackle problems such as a lack of dexterity. We want cool stuff not geriatric tools. Our view at Wanobe is that most women and men who have celebrated passing fifty want to live life out loud, as couples or individuals.”
Noble acknowledges that most of the UK’s 20 million people aged over 50 may find money to be in shorter supply than most would have hoped, but notes that people very much enjoy going to shows, taking trips and enjoying drinks and dinner with friends.
Wanobe.com caters for a 50-plus audience whose interests range from Viagra to plastic surgery to Vespas. The website enables community members to match-make and date, store personal information on secure online servers, and network online. Visitors are also able to view information on relevant life stage issues from health to technology and can even contribute their own articles.
David Noble adds: “Men and women over 50 are major consumers. Their children have moved out, their mortgages are paid off and a substantial number have the time and money to get the most out of life. And one 55-year-old in two goes online on a daily basis."
