Student Site Slams Student Debt

Press Dispensary - March 13, 2008 - WealthyStudent.co.uk ( http://www.wealthystudent.co.uk ), a financial advice site for students, is poised to challenge student debts on two fronts. The first is a formal challenge to the government’s policies on student loans and top-up fees. Secondly, the site provides practical advice for students trying to cope with the financial pressures of university life.

Steve Burford, an entrepreneurial Southampton Solent University student, is launching WealthyStudent.co.uk in response to an overwhelming determination to rid British students of horrific debt and to afford them a better start in life. Adding to Burford’s already burning fire are the growing interest rates, currently at 4.8%, which are added to student loans.

Burford explains: "Wealthystudent.co.uk has been designed and developed as a backlash against rising student debts and a declining economy.

"The site provides practical advice and creative ideas to help students save and make money. We provide a wealth of information for students to survive at university and we have a regular competition where we want to make two students richer each month. We believe students shouldn’t start life with such large debts and we’re helping them do something about it."

WealthyStudent.co.uk also gives away a free e-book on the site that is designed for students to get in the right mindset for success after university. In reference to this, Tony Palmer, human resources manager, Encams.org, comments: “There is still a great transition from being a student to entering the workplace; students need to read and act on this advice”
