Borne from Press Dispensary’s vast experience of writing and distributing press releases, the course provides training on how to write announcements that will make the media notice any existing or start-up business.
The ‘Press Release Masterclass’ sees Press Dispensary’s popular ‘PR Copywriting’ course extended to a full day’s fixture, resulting in more time for workshops and a greater focus on press release distribution, online news and PR. The course is led by Robert Shepherd, Press Dispensary’s co-editorial director, who has 20 years’ professional experience in broadcasting, business communications and public relations.
Course content includes: how to write press releases that generate coverage; identifying company news; the value of good copy; creating headlines and photo captions; avoiding jargon and marketing-speak that journalists hate; writing spokespersons’ quotes; devising a house style; editing copy; how to distribute a release to journalists; how to exploit the boom in online news; the news release in SEO, search engine marketing and direct marketing; and an informative Q&A.
